Consent
Permission for something to happen or agreement to do something.
The administrative branch of our government is currently acting with the consent of the Courts and Congress. With a few exceptions, congress has consented through silent affirmation and the courts through slow or untimely actions. What wins there have been have been superficial or cannon fodder. The danger we may already be facing is an executive branch continuing its illegal actions without the consent of either of the two other branches of government.
The Declaration of Independence is our founding document. When laying out our inalienable rights, it stated clearly: "Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed."
We are those governed. This government cannot stand without our consent.
How do we withdraw consent?
There are countless ways. Lawyers who work for the government can refuse to obey illegal/immoral instructions (this is not the same as quitting). Soldiers can refuse to follow unlawful orders. Police can refuse to enforce illegal/immoral laws. Citizens can refuse to support companies that fall in line. Unions can refuse to process mail, deliver packages, or perform services for the government.
The list is long, and to be effective, denying consent needs to be coordinated for maximum effectiveness.
To be coordinated, we must cooperate, organize, communicate and plan. To do any of those things, we need easy access to each other and leaders who understand the importance of engaging with us as participants, not clients. To find each other #ActionList members are posting information every day on how you can get involved, and groups and organizations you can join.
Participants and not clients. What does that mean?
It means when our leaders gather us together in protest, demonstration, or meeting, they give us marching orders. Our leaders must know what needs to be done and be able to communicate to us what we need to do to change the status quo. Please write to your representatives and demand that they stand up and take charge!
We don't need cheerleaders. We don't need to be encouraged. We need concrete, actionable instructions on what we need to do now to let the administration in Washington know ...
