Trump's Trust in Putin

Former President Donald Trump didn't mince words when asked about the potential consequences of Putin violating any agreements regarding Ukraine. He labeled such inquiries ridiculous and reiterated his belief that Putin could be trusted to adhere to any deal despite the Russian leader's past failures, including dismissing previous agreements without a second thought.

Neutral Arbiter?

Trump presented himself as a neutral arbiter in the ongoing conflict, claiming ultimate concern for peace between Ukraine and Russia however, when a CNN reporter pressed him on why he refrained from criticizing Putin. His response? He suggested, “You want me to say terrible things about Putin and then try to negotiate with him? That’s not how it works.”

In a glaring contradiction to his handling of Putin, Trump has not hesitated to criticize Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. He has previously dismissed Zelensky as merely a “moderately successful comedian,” falsely claimed that Zelensky started the war and even said Zelensky had done a "terrible job" as the leader of Ukraine, deeming him "A Dictator without Elections.”

There can be little doubt whose side of this conflict Trump supports. The only real question is, WHY?
